The World’s Most Famous Cartoon Bees

by administrator

When you think of some of the most popular cartoon characters of all time, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is Mickey Mouse or Spongebob Squarepants. Other popular mascots are typically animals that are most liked by humans, such as dogs, cats, or birds. Whether you are actively aware of it or not, there are much more bee characters than may realize.

Let’s explore some iconic and memorable characters that our Orange County bee removal service has learned to love!

Buzz Bee

There’s a strong chance that you have probably had a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios at some point in your life, or at least seen a commercial on television featuring him. The General Mills character was first introduced in 1979 by Yandel Gonzalez, who not only created the character but the cereal itself. However, he originally did not have a name until 2000, when then-5th grade student Kristine Tong won a contest to give the character a name. As of 2021, Buzz Bee is voiced by Sam Heyn.

Buzz

This guy isn’t to be confused with the cereal mascot we just discussed! He is actually the mascot of the Georgia Institute of Technology, most commonly known as Georgia Tech. It is a competitive school with an acceptance rate of just below 20%. The Buzz character was introduced in 1972. He is a natural-born prankster and enjoys crowd surfing.

Barry B. Benson

Barry (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld) is the protagonist of the 2007 Dreamworks film Bee Movie. This movie became an Internet sensation for a few years due to the film’s strange premise, as well as some humor that is not typical for a movie aimed at children. Barry decided to take the entire human race to court, believing that it is unfair that they are selling and taking their honey away from them. After winning the lawsuit, Barry realizes that he has made a dire mistake. He learns the hard work produced by the bees is good for not only people but for bees and the environment as a whole.

Spike the Bee

You may not recognize this character if you did not watch the classic Disney cartoons when you were a kid. This vicious bee is also known as Buzz-Buzz or Barrington according to the Disney Wiki. He appeared in Donald Duck cartoons during the late 1940s and early 1950s serving as an arch-rival to the beloved temperamental duck doing all in his power to make him as miserable as possible. That’s one we’re glad doesn’t our Irvine CA bee removal service doesn’t have to deal with!

While we wish these guys were real, sadly they are just products of human creativity and imagination.
